WNYCOSH provides occupational safety & health training and technical assistance for employers, unions, and community groups throughout WNY on over 80 topics.

Offers a course that is designed for personnel in the private and public sector interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed upon those topics that are required in the 10- and 30-hour programs, as well as on those that are most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct both a 10- and 30- hour construction safety and health course and to issue cards to participants verifying course completion. Ensures safe and healthful working conditions for workers by setting and enforcing standards

Represents flexibly structured approach to comprehensive outpatient health care service for employed persons. Services include: worker's compensation; drug/alcohol testing compliance program; medical director program; OSHA required examinations; rehabilitation services and screenings; physicals; drug testing; and many other health care services for area businesses.

The Environmental Health Division is dedicated to protecting people in Erie County from biological, chemical, and physical hazards that may be present in food, water, and the built environment. Environmental Health sanitarians, engineers, nurses, educators and vector control workers: - Conduct inspections and investigations - Educate and motivate the public to prevent environmental hazards - Provide medical case management for children diagnosed with lead poisoning - Provide timely environmental health information in times of emergency - Provide assistance and information in cases of potential rabies exposures - Review plans and advise the public in environmentally safe construction, development and upgrades to facilities - Assist in the control of disease-causing vectors - Enforce applicable local, state, and national codes, and regulations to protect public health

Provides education and support in areas of disease and injury prevention. Areas may include nutrition, dental health in children, STDs, worksite wellness, HIV/AIDS, cancer screening and education, teen pregnancy, family planning, lead poisoning prevention, physical activity, communicable and chronic diseases, rabies control, tobacco use prevention and cessation, and car seat safety.

Responsible for septic systems, inspections and permit issuance, drinking water testing, public health hazards and nuisances, clean indoor air enforcement, onsite wastewater treatment system regulation, rabies investigations and vaccinations, insect control, West Nile Virus surveillance. Rabies vaccinations: Conducts free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets in several locations across Cattaraugus County. All Cattaraugus County residents are eligible for these free vaccinations. Notices will be posted on the Cattaraugus County website, through radio, newspaper ads, fliers on community boards around the County. Provides services focused on occupational health and industrial medicine, which are branches of medicine that promote the health and physical well-being of employees in all occupations. Programs include immunizations, drug testing, physicals, respirator fit testing, audiograms, etc. Works to help companies comply with the medical regulations of OSHA, MSHA, and the DOT.

Provides mandated training in safety/health areas such as OSHA/TB, American Red Cross basic first aid, OMRDD Incident Reporting, HAZ Communication, driving issues, Hands on Driving, Defensive Driving. Also provides training in infection control, CPR, medication administration, crisis intervention, seizure control, stress management, and other related topics.
