Healthy Neighborhoods Program (HNP) - Cattaraugus County Health Department

Provides home safety visit to identify hazards or areas of concern, provide environmental information, create a home safety plan with recommendations for improvement, and provide products to carry out hazard reduction. Home visits include an assessment for hazards related to fire safety, lead poisoning prevention, indoor air quality, carbon monoxide poisoning, radon, ventilation and odors, cleaning and clutter, pests, mold/mildew and moisture, asthma, and injury prevention. The Healthy Neighborhoods Program (HNP) is designed to help improve the personal health, safety, and living conditions of individuals and families to reduce the burden of housing related illness and injury. Program provides home safety visits include an assessment for hazards related to fire safety, lead poisoning prevention, indoor air quality, carbon monoxide poisoning, radon, ventilation and odors, cleaning and clutter, pests, mold/mildew and moisture, asthma, and injury prevention. Following the home assessment, staff work with the resident to create a plan to make their home safer. Staff provides information, recommendations, and products to correct or reduce hazards. Products may include: smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, replacement batteries, radon test kits, fire extinguishers, asthma management tools, green cleaning items including baking soda and vinegar, child safety products such as door knob covers, outlet covers, and cabinet latches.

Healthy Neighborhoods Program - Genesee County Health Department

Home safety visitation program that includes an assessment for hazards related to lack of working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers, blocked fire exits, paint in poor condition and other lead hazards, poor condition of roof, floors, walls, handrails, and steps, mold and water leaks, pests, and asthma triggers. After assessment, homes may be provided with information on fire safety, carbon monoxide poisoning, radon gas, pest control, smoking cessation, asthma triggers, and lead poisoning prevention. Eligible homes may receive supplies such as smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, radon test kits, fire extinguishers, cleaning supplies, and asthma management tools.

Healthy Neighborhoods Program - Niagara County Department of Health

Program is both educational and remedial, providing residents in target areas of Niagara County with free environmental health and safety products and materials. Areas of concern include preventing home fires, preventing poisoning from radon, carbon monoxide and lead, improving air quality, preventing asthma attacks, and promoting safety awareness. The HNP provides free products and materials according to the needs of the residents as determined by public health technicians at the time of the indoor home assessment appointment. A resident may receive free smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, asthma relief materials, lead poisoning prevention clean up materials, a fire escape ladder, child safety products, adult safety products, poisoning prevention materials, and other seasonally selected products. There is no paperwork to fill out. Residents are often revisited to reassess needs and/or progress.

Home visits include an assessment for indoor air quality, asthma control, carbon monoxide poisoning, fire and burn safety, lead poisoning hazards, unintentional injury, smoking cessation, and housing and property maintenance. Following the home assessment, intervention products and services are provided according to need and interest. Free products include: smoke detectors and batteries, CO detectors, child safety products, cleaning supplies, asthma trigger management supplies, and radon test kits to qualifying families.

CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION PROGRAM | SUFFOLK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES - DIVISION OF PATIENT CARE SERVICES

Conducts investigations of lead poisoning in children. Because lead poisoning is serious, New York State requires Health Care Providers to test all children for blood lead levels at ages 1 and 2, and up to age 6 based on risk assessment. Contact the Suffolk County Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program to find out about home safety tools and recalls on items and toys, especially if your home was built before 1978. Offers community outreach and education about lead poisoning and prevention to health providers and various homes and organizations. Call for all services offered.
