In collaboration with New York State Community Service Society, assist people who are enrolled in New York State Medicaid manage care plans and those who receive long-term care services; such as questions regarding Medicare and Medicaid programs for those receiving long-term care, managed care option, help to resolve problems with plan and providers, help in lodging complaints or appeal health care decisions. Medicaided Facilitated Enrollment Program is also offered for the aged, blind and disabled to assist in enrolling and receiving insurance programs, such as Medicaid, long term care (for homecare) enrollment, Medicaid recertification, Medicare Savings Program.

This services provides health insurance counseling and assistance filling out forms, answering questions regarding Medicare, Medicare part D, Medicaid, health insurance issues, Prescription cards, etc. Also offers financial assistance with gas, electric or fuel oil bills for older adults who may be struggling.

Offers assistance with understanding and applying for Medicare, Medicare Advantage, prescription drug, EPIC, supplemental and long term care policies. Provides help with problems and decisions including recovering monies owed through helping with appeals on denied claims, canceling duplicate policies and submitting unprocessed claims.

Provides social workers to help individuals and families get health insurance, including to apply for Medicare, Medicaid, Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus, or Family Planning Benefit Program. Also helps with other medical-related issues for individuals who are uninsured or under insured.

The Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) supplies people over 60 with counseling regarding Medicare A, B and D, QMB, SLMB, retiree health plans, other health insurance, medigap policies, long term care insurance, claim processing, EPIC, etc. THe Office for the Aging needs volunteers for its health insurance counseling helpline. To become a volunteer, one must go through HIICAP training

A public health insurance application assistance program for people who are aged, blind or disabled. We educate and assist New Yorkers with enrolling in and using public health insurance programs. Facilitated Enrollment consists of private, one-on-one counseling about Medicaid and the Medicare Savings Program. We can meet with people at our offices, various public locations, by phone or at a client's home if they are unable to travel. Our service areas include Chenango, Cortland, Delaware and Otsego counties.

The Office for the Aging offers many services for the senior residents of Steuben County including, but not limited to, information and referral, nutrition through congregate meals, advocacy, support groups, transportation services, caregiver services, case management, and the Bone Builders and Senior Meal Programs. Bone Builders and the Senior Dinner Clubs are overseen by Pro Action of Steuben-Yates.
