Offers classes for new and expectant mothers, caregivers, and family members. Classes cover subject areas such as expectant parents, newborn care, breastfeeding, and new siblings.

The Cohoes Family Care MOMS Program is an educational program for pregnant women. Provided are pregnancy tests, assistance in completing Medicaid applications, access to prenatal and primary care, free childbirth and breastfeeding education, along with pregnancy and infant care education Also provided are referrals to community agencies as appropriate, such as WIC or the local Department of Health. Crisis counseling on issues such as domestic violence, child abuse and mental health issues is also provided.

Provides care for expectant mothers and newborn infants. Offers extensive labor pain management options, anesthesia coverage, minimal visitation limitations, and pull out sleeps chairs for partners.

Provides a variety of services for infants, children, new moms, and parents. Services include home visits, breastfeeding support, family planning, child immunizations, parenting and child development education, and connections to resources like daycare programs, doctors and dentists, transportation assistance, public assistance programs (including WIC), and lead testing services.

Provides services throughout the pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum period.

* Provides medical information regarding breastfeeding, related topics and equipment. Monthly meetings, in-person, Zoom and post-text meeting via Facebook. Online Meetings: 1st TU 8:00PM in the online group www.facebook.com/groups/LLLofRocOnline/.

* Provides professional peer support for breastfeeding parents. Parents expecting or have a newborn are welcome to come participate in conversation about parenting and breastfeeding. Lactation Counselors at every meeting to answer questions and provide support to parents.

Offers a refresher Lamaze class for mothers and their coaches. Reinforces breathing, relaxation and labor support techniques previously learned. Suggests methods for easing sibling rivalry and assists couples in making positive changes to their labor experience. Offers one3.5 hour class.

Offers supervised meetings where you can share similar experiences in a comfortable, caring setting. Depending on your needs, some health care support groups assist with specific conditions and issues, while others are more general in nature. Some of our support groups include: Bereavement Support Group; Breast Cancer Support Group; Breastfeeding Support Group; Cancer Family Support Groups; Caregiver Support Group; Diabetes Support Group; Dialysis Support Group; Gastric Sleeve Support Group; Prostate Cancer Support Group and Stroke Support Group. SLC provides a birthing center that focuses on all aspects of pregnancy, from testing, option counseling, labor and delivery, high-risk, infertility, prenatal and post partum care.

A multifaceted prenatal assistance and health education program that provides community outreach and promotes the importance of early prenatal care. Offers assistance in applying for W.I.C. (Women Infants & Children) and health insurance through the NYS Marketplace. Works to connect parents with community-based services to support pregnancy and beyond. Offers essential information and education on fetal development, prenatal nutrition, birthing, infant nutrition, breastfeeding, labor and delivery, signs of premature labor, birth control options, the dangers of nicotine/alcohol/drug use, and HIV prevention.

Home visiting nursing program that provides prenatal and postnatal supportive services. MOMS is designed to improve equitable access to quality maternal child health care, increase lactation support for parents choosing to breast feed, and enhance the coordination of care with other community resources. Program services include: Health Screening & Monitoring, Pregnancy Education, Nutrition Screening & Monitoring, Infant Care Education, Lactation Counseling, Postpartum Mental Health Education, Childbirth and Family Planning, Early Childhood Development, Community Resource Referrals, and help with WIC program enrollment (if appropriate) and making an appointment with a participating OBGYN. Staff RN is also a Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) who can answer questions about yourself and your newborn in regard to breast/chest feeding. Serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing breastfeeding support, information on healthy eating, nutritious foods to supplement diets, and referrals to health care. SCDHS WIC clinics are co-located within Sun River Health Centers & Northwell Family Health Center. Call for detailed information regarding programs and services offered.

Provides prenatal, perinatal, postpartum care for women who need home care before and/or after the baby is born. Pediatric assessment, education and treatment for the family is also available, if needed. Also provides teen pregnancy prevention classes.

Provides several safe and nurturing shelters, in various locations, for young women who are pregnant and homeless. Along with housing, parenting and life skills classes, job training and other counseling is provided in order to prepare them to have a better chance of success once they are on their own. Also one home is specifically designed to focus on the needs of homeless, pregnant women with mental illness or drug/alcohol addiction.

Offers a free weekly support group for breastfeeding mothers and their infants led by a certified lactation consultant. Provides information, support and hands-on assistance to ensure breastfeeding success. Topics vary based on group member's interests. Held in an informal, off-site location. Call for more details.

This is a weekly get together for new moms to share information with each other. A lactation consultant is available for questions.

Offers pregnant women low or no cost pre-natal programs covering newborn-infant care, breast feeding, CPR/Tot-saver, pre-natal exercise and Lamaze training. Participants in the Lamaze class have the opportunity, at no charge, for a one time visit by a registered nurse to assist in newborn care.
