Provides evaluations for Cattaraugus County children whose parents have concerns with their child's developmental achievements. Areas of development assessment are: cognitive, physical (including vision and hearing), social/emotional, adaptive development, and communication. After assessment, if the child meets eligibility she or he will receive services through the Early Intervention Program. Child Find, part of the Early Intervention program, aims to make sure that all children have a primary care physician and insurance coverage as well as promote the availability of developmental screening and necessary services.

Early Identification Programs
A voluntary developmental evaluation and services program offered by New York State and administered locally by the Erie County Department of Health. Serves children from birth through 2 years of age and their families where there is a high risk of delay, a suspected delay in development, or a confirmed diagnosis of developmental disability. A variety of therapeutic and support services are offered to eligible infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. Services for eligible children and their families include: - Periodic developmental screening and tracking of at risk children - Service coordination for eligible children and families - Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) - Provision of early intervention services in the IFSP at no cost to parents - Delivery of services in natural settings in the community where children of the same age are typically found, to the maximum extent appropriate

Provides comprehensive educational services for 3 to 5 year-old students with multiple physical and developmental disabilities. The educational curriculum and therapeutic design of the program focuses on skill development through traditional teaching methods while engaging the most up to date technologies available. Classroom activities stress academic and readiness skills, social and play skills. Experiential learning through exploration, manipulation, imitation, and socialization are keys to successful skill acquisition. A cross-disciplinary approach allows for classroom activities that develop the skills necessary for day-to-day life. Communication skills are reinforced throughout the school day in an engineered aided language environment, which uses visual strategies and state of the art assistive technology enabling students to make their needs known in each communication environment (e.g., therapy room, classroom, gym). Parents are encouraged to be active participants in their child’s education. Support services are provided by physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, school psychologist and school social worker as well as nursing staff and a consulting physician. For young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, the Center for Spectrum Services can design home programs employing a verbal behavior approach following the principles of applied behavioral analysis. Consent for evaluation required through school district of residence. Infants and toddlers from birth to 3 years receive in-home evaluations.
