Offers information and referral to individuals regarding the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality as well as for individuals who have been born with birth defects.

Specializes in serving children in need of a highly structured learning environment and present with autism spectrum disorders or PDD (pervasive development disorder). Classes are small, allowing for an intensive learning environment. Students learn appropriate on-task "school-like" behaviors and how to be as independent as possible. CRC utilized the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to shape behaviors and teach new skills through repetition and reinforcement. Instruction targets Activities of Daily Living (ADL). A progressive total communication system is utilized including spoken words, photographs, pictures, symbols and/or sign language to increase communication skills. The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) is used to engage students in a social exchange for requesting and/or communicating their needs. Additionally, we have specially trained staff that may address any mealtime management concerns, such as limited food repertoire. A collaborative team including teachers, social workers, psychologist, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and administrative personnel strives to meet the individualized educational needs of each child. All students benefit from an adapted physical education and music program. Family input is encouraged and parent training is provided throughout the school year. Assists preschool children 3-5 years old who have been identified by their local school district's Committee on Preschool Special Education as having a disability via evaluation(s) based on the child's area(s) of need. Provides evaluations and therapeutic services to children who have shown developmental delays, along with school readiness programs.

Offers a voluntary developmental evaluation and services program offered by New York State and administered locally by the Nassau County Department of Health Office for Children with Special Needs. To be eligible for EI services, children must be under 3 years of age and have a confirmed disability or established developmental delay, as defined by New York State, in one or more of the following areas of development: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and/or adaptive. Evaluations are conducted to determine eligibility. A variety of therapeutic and support services are offered to eligible infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. Major provisions of the program include: Identification and referral of children at risk or suspected of disability by primary referral sources; Periodic developmental screening and tracking of at risk children; Service coordination for eligible children and families; A multidisciplinary evaluation provided at no cost to parents to determine eligibility; Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) for eligible children and families; Provision of early intervention services in the IFSP at no cost to parents and Delivery of services in natural settings in the community where children of the same age are typically found, to the maximum extent appropriate. Offers a center-based and home-based pre-school for children with and without disabilities which emphasizes social, emotional, and academic growth in a supportive, safe environment. Also provides early intervention services for children with developmental disabilities and their families including evaluation and services in all areas of development including special education, psychological services, speech, language, occupational and physical therapy, nursing services, and family support and advocacy services. Family support and home and community based services available to children with developmental disabilities.

Provides developmental evaluations for young children, which is a comprehensive assessment of all areas of functioning including cognitive skills, motor development, communication, social/emotional development, and adaptive/personal care skills. The results of the evaluation, including a full written report, are shared with parents. If the child is eligible for services, it is determined the type, frequency and location of services. If appropriate, services can be offered in the home, daycare or preschool, or within a therapeutic setting such as a specialized school program.
