Community Based Pre-Vocational Services:Community Based Prevocational Services (Community Pre-Voc) provides opportunities for individuals to increase their vocational skills and engage in career exploration in the local community. Participants have the chance to volunteer with local non-profits, develop resumes, attend classroom learning, and visit area employers. Transportation is provided from the agency home site to various points in the community. Site Based Pre-Vocational Services:Site-Based Prevocational Services are activities that provide learning and work experiences where individuals can develop general, non-job-task-specific strengths and skills that contribute to employability in paid employment in integrated community settings. Services are intended to develop and teach general skills related to following directions, attending to task, task completion, problem-solving, safety and/or may also focus on assisting the person to adjust to the productive and social relationship demands of the work place. This program is offered at Alternatives Industry located at 634 Birchwood Drive, Oneida, NY. Enrollment requirements include: Individuals with disabilities 24 years old and younger (youth) must be provided with various services designed to improve their access to competitive integrated employment, including transition services, vocational rehabilitation and career counseling services, before they are employed at a subminimum wage; All workers, including youth, must be regularly provided with career counseling and information about training opportunities as a condition of payment of a subminimum wage.
