Recruits and trains volunteer puppy walkers , who raise and socialize guide dog puppies. Volunteers raise puppies for one year, teaching puppies house manners, basic obedience, leash walking and exposing puppies to a variety of experiences and situations. Training manuals and free weekly obedience classes available.

Training program includes proper use, care and handling of the guide dog in rural, suburban and urban settings. Residential Program - A 21 day residential program held 12 times a year with a small class size, about 12 per class. Special Needs Program- For students who, in addition to being legally blind, have a condition that affects their mobility, such as hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, etc. Action Program - An accelerated 10-day residential and 5-day in-home program for experienced guide dog users.Home Training Program - An in-home program for applicants who cannot attend the residential program

Students must pay for their transportation to and from the center, their meals during Team Training, and depending on the training center in your regional area, the cost of staying in a hotel.
