At Fulton County Public Health, immunizations are provided to persons of all ages at a nominal fee or at no cost to those who qualify. This clinic provides vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, H. Influenza, prevnar, varicella, influenza and tetanus to meet education requirements for children 2 months of age or older.Fulton County Public Health provides the Rabies vaccine for pre-exposure to individuals in need for a fee and free of cost for individuals considered at risk because of exposure to a rabid animal.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH | OSWEGO COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Responsible for implementing programs and providing information to help individuals live healthier lives by minimizing environmental health threats. Some efforts are targeted to the population at large, such as monitoring of public and private drinking water supplies, food safety in restaurants, fire safety in hotels, and permitting of mass gatherings. Other programs target specific needs such as interventions to prevent illness from rabies, lead poisoning, failing septic systems, and sale of tobacco products to minors.

* Provides public health services that include:
  • Rabies Prevention (receive notification of all dog bites in the county and work with the person that was bitten to make sure they get screened for rabies risk and the need for post-exposure prophylaxis).
  • Lead Poisoning Prevention (works with families of children at risk for, or with an elevated blood lead level to reduce that child's level). Testing is not provided by public health but a referral is made to the NYS office.
  • Immunization Program (provides mandatory and optional vaccines for the county residents)
  • Communicable Disease Program (investigates and coordinates with other agencies on reports of State-defined communicable diseases).
  • Healthy Families Program (Assists at-risk families with strength-based guidance and support in parenting and other life issues).

IMMUNIZATIONS | MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Montgomery County Public Health works to ensure that county children are fully vaccinated according to the recommended schedule. Vaccines are provided to eligible children. Adult vaccines are also available at a nominal fee. Annual adult influenza vaccine are also offered in the fall.

Rensselaer County Department of Health has clinics for Adult Immunizations, Childhood Immunizations, and Pneumonia and Flu Immunizations. Travel vaccines and information are also provided to children and adults who have international travel plans.

RABIES CONTROL PROGRAM | ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Offers free rabies vaccination clinics for owners of dogs, ferrets, and cats. Owners are required to keep pets on a leash or in a carrier and bring their pet's past rabies shot records.

Provides post- exposure treatment to humans when exposure occurs. Confinement of domesticated cats, dogs, ferrets, and livestock is conducted as needed to reduce the spread of rabies.

NYS Public Health Law requires that all puppies and kittens get their first rabies shot at 3 months of age. They also need to get a booster shot at 1 year old, and again every three years.

The Warren County Immunization Program provides immunization clinics and administers vaccines. Disease prevention is the key to public health, as it is better to prevent a disease than to treat it. Works to monitor, treat, and prevent incidents of rabies, insect-related diseases, and other communicable diseases. Rabies control encompasses exposure follow ups for humans and domestic animals through contact investigations, pre and post-exposure treatments, animal confinements and quarantines, laboratory specimen submissions, vaccination clinics for domestic animals, and community education. Vector control monitors insect-related diseases such as West Nile Virus and Lyme Disease through a variety of functions such as species surveillance and public education.
