If you have been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer and have already received our "Lend a Helping Hand Grant" and are currently under a physician’s care, you are eligible additional grant of up to $2,500, which may be used for such services as house cleaning, meal preparation, transportation expenses, or just a day of relaxation at a local spa.

Provides a support group for women who were diagnosed with breast cancer for more than one year. Meets every third Thursday each month, except in July and August, from 7pm to 9pm in Admin conference room 2. Preregistration not required.

Offers full genetic counseling and genetic testing services for patients with breast or ovarian cancer, colon cancer of a family history of cancer. A complete family history is obtained for risk assessment. Dominant inheritance risk of transmission to offspring and probabilities of developing disease are discussed. The significance of negative and positive test results are reviewed.

The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Reserarch Fund, Inc., supports both new and established researchers investigating the causes, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Research includes studies of the genetic, molecular, cellular and environmental factors involved in the development and progression of breast cancer application of the knowledge thus gained to educate medical professionals and increase public awareness for the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer and studies of the outcomes of breast cancer detection and treatment of breast cancer and studies of the outcomes of breast cancer detection treatment on the patient, their families and society.

Offers the following services for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer: laboratory, pharmacy, physical therapy, social services, radiography, MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, CT Scanning, Computerized Tomography, nuclear medicine and ultrasound in addition to a full-range of psycho-social and nutrition services. The Tumor Registry has a database of over 6,700 cases established since January 1983. The center also offers support groups for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. Other support groups are for their caregivers, spouses and significant others. In addition there is an extensive library of books, pamphlets and videotapes on risk factors and prevention.

Provides visitation and support for diagnosed breast cancer patients. One-to-one pre-surgery telephone support also available.

Its mission is to serve the people of the Town of Islip confronting this disease and to provide education, outreach and support in enhancing their quality of life.
