Youth in Government | Steuben County Youth Bureau

Offers a semester long internship. Students meet at county facilities for seven all day sessions during one semester and receive hands on experience about county government including hearing department presentations, observing a legislative session, interviewing a County Legislator. The interns conduct a simulated legislative session as their culminating activity, where they introduce, discuss and vote on resolutions of their choosing about a county matter.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM | SUFFOLK COUNTY POLICE ACADEMY

Established the student internship program to assist students in furthering their education and experience in the field of criminal justice. The Suffolk County Police Department offers this unique opportunity for students to observe the functions and operations of the department. The program will give each student a representative sampling of the comprehensive training that every police recruit must complete before they can transition to patrol duty. Interns will be assigned to their local precinct to observe the different commands of the precinct. Interns will also be assigned to Special Patrol and various commands in Police Headquarters. 4-H Youth Development - CCE Niagara County

Currently, 300 adult volunteers help the 400 youth enrolled in one or more of the 95 projects designed for 'hands on' learning. Open to young people ages 5-19, types of enrollments range from the traditional 4-H Club to school programs to individual memberships. Clover Buds is a club for children ages 5-7. County-wide programs for youth aged 8-19 include: Leaders of Tomorrow, Workforce Preparation, and Legislative Interns. The Clover Scene is a monthly publication that contains ideas and information important to 4-H/Youth Development members and volunteer leaders.

Buffalo State College STEP Program

College Student Programs and Services include: College Kickoff for Incoming Freshmen - event to introduce students to what to expect when they get to college, and give them the tools to be successful once they begin. Paid Internships: Say Yes Buffalo Scholars who have completed their first year of college are able to apply for paid internships at companies and organizations throughout Western New York. Scholars are supported with workshops and training on topics such as resumes and preparing cover letters, interviewing skills and networking. Scholar Mentoring Program - students entering their freshman year at a Western New York college or university can apply to be matched with a mentor. The pair meets consistently for 18 months, and the mentor guides the student through the transition to college. Summer Success Academies - students who attend Buffalo State, Erie Community or Medaille Colleges have the opportunity to enroll in free summer programs prior to the start of their freshman college year to help put them on track to be successful once they officially start classes. Students are eligible to be paid for participating through the City of Buffalo's Mayor Summer Youth program.
