Established the student internship program to assist students in furthering their education and experience in the field of criminal justice. The Suffolk County Police Department offers this unique opportunity for students to observe the functions and operations of the department. The program will give each student a representative sampling of the comprehensive training that every police recruit must complete before they can transition to patrol duty. Currently, 300 adult volunteers help the 400 youth enrolled in one or more of the 95 projects designed for 'hands on' learning. Open to young people ages 5-19, types of enrollments range from the traditional 4-H Club to school programs to individual memberships. Clover Buds is a club for children ages 5-7. County-wide programs for youth aged 8-19 include: Leaders of Tomorrow, Workforce Preparation, and Legislative Interns. The Clover Scene is a monthly publication that contains ideas and information important to 4-H/Youth Development members and volunteer leaders.

Summer Success Academies - students who attend Buffalo State, Erie Community or Medaille Colleges have the opportunity to enroll in free summer programs prior to the start of their freshman college year to help put them on track to be successful once they officially start classes. Students are eligible to be paid for participating through the City of Buffalo's Mayor Summer Youth program.
