Provides workers in trade who have lost their jobs due to a change of production or imports that have shifted outside of the United States. This includes supportive services such as job search allowances, relocation allowances, education for employer-based training, case assessment, and job search services.

Provides women either residing at the YWCA-GCR or in the community, with job readiness training, on site work experience, case management, resource referral, and 360 degrees of support. The goal of this program is to provide women with the skills they need in order to obtain and maintain permanent employment at a livable wage.

Offers a full range of services and activities for adults and children including computer access, story programs for preschoolers, programs for seniors, and summer reading clubs for children and teens. Also provides computer and technology training (one-on-one or group classes), ESL classes, and job search and preparedness assistance.

Program OverviewOut of school young adults (ages 18-24) to secure meaningful employment.

Assists individuals ages 18 years and older who have a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness, with entering the workforce. Provides activities such as searching for employment, assist them with the hiring process, supports the individual during employment, connects with community resources for benefits advisement, intensive job coaching, or obtaining work attire. Staff coordinates employment concerns with clinical providers and employers to provide a continuity of care, and to optimize the probability of success.

Provides job placement and support to people with disabilities in obtaining employment, such as resumes, interviewing skills, computer training, customer service training, employment searching/networking, and assistance in eliminating barriers to employment. Call for more information.

Provides opportunities for education, rejuvenation and reflection for residents,membership into community garden, staff and the community of Brentwood. Offers classes and workshops on financial literacy, computer basics, resume writing, nutrition, mental health and wellness.

The Learning Center is a central learning site providing workshops and learning opportunities for all at-risk youth ages 14-24. Workshops are supportive, social, and psycho-educational, all aimed at individual growth to assist youth to successfully transition into adulthood. We offer workshops on: creating a resume, preparing for job interviews and employment, career/vocational training, college application prep, financial literacy, independent living /life skills coaching and much more!

The Workforce Partnership (TWP) is a consortium of local governments funded by the Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA). TWP is a component of a network of organizations that focus on both assisting employers in hiring qualified workers and helping job seekers to develop the skills and abilities necessary to secure gainful employment. TWP administers a variety of employment related services under the auspices of the Federal Workforce Investment Act. Offers guidance to teenagers and young adults who want to go to college or technical school, including with help searching for financial assistance. Also provides pre-job training with interview skills, resume writing, entering the military, etc.

Coaching services offer one-on-one guidance and advice, from helping figure out a career path to exploring opportunities for professional growth to supporting job seekers through the ups and downs.

Offers free NYS approved/certified personal care and home health aide training and upgrade programs. Programs are held every two months for two and a half weeks. Employment with health insurance is available upon completion of training and certification.

Provides employment preparation to individuals in an alcohol or drug treatment program, to assist them with the skills and knowledge to become economically independent.

Self-esteem and vocational workshops, including stress management, assertiveness, parenting, communication skills, interviewing, maintaining a job, resume writing, etc. The goal is to assist low-income individuals to become self-sufficient by raising their self-esteem and employability. It includes job search assistance.

Offers Suffolk county residents, ages 18-24, educational support to obtain their TASC diploma and learn job skills. Provides vocational training in a variety of fields including the building trades (weatherization, green construction), medical billing and coding, hospitality, home health aide, early child care and manufacturing. Offers job interview skills workshops, resume writing, job placement and continued career counseling for program graduates. Offers a stipend for good performance to participants.

Provides career counseling, government benefit application assistance, and guides for government benefits and the economics of recovery.

Offers employment, planning and support service for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Provides assistance for these individuals to obtain, maintain or advance in competitive employment. Includes job-readiness assessment/employment discovery process.

Offices provide convenient one-stop shopping for employment-related needs. Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions offices offer many DOL programs in a single location-including career related assistance and services for employers. Staff at these centers have been cross-trained in Department services so they can address more completely the needs of employers and job seekers. The Division of Employment Services works with the public and private sectors to create job opportunities, offer job fairs, help workers find a job, and help businesses find skilled workers. Provides a program to help adolescents and young adults to effectively secure and maintain employment on their own. Services include pre job guidance, customer services, staying organized, networking, budgeting, time management, job expectations, asking for help and dressing appropriately. The program serves as a mentor and liaison between the youth and the employer until the youth has successfully transitioned into the job.
