New York State Commission for the Blind's (NYSCB) Business Enterprise Program (BEP) offers opportunities for individuals who are blind to gain the training and skills necessary to manage one of several vending facilities located in Federal and state office buildings throughout the state. After completing an intensive training program, BEP managers become proficient in all aspects of retail management including purchasing products, controlling inventory, marketing products, maintaining good customer relations, and keeping accurate records.

Summer programs include youth employment, leisure time and recreational/cultural activities. Also offers a Martial Arts Program, career explorations, Martin Luther King Scholarship which is given annually to deserving students, and the Kearse Soccer Clinic. Year round individual and family counseling offered. Tutorial and homework assistance is also available as well as workshops on substance prevention, underage drinking, teenage pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS.

Offers residential services and substance abuse disorder services with a job development and educational component to adult men. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS).

Offers summer employment opportunities for youth. They are able to work up to ten weeks throughout the summer, for 30 hours per week and earn minimum wage.

Offers a ten week summer course for college students in the field of journalism. A letter from the college they are attending is required along with students transcript. Student must attend two to three days a week and at least one weekend between June and mid August. Applications for internships can be found on website. Call for further information.

Provides opportunities for individuals to experience personal growth, manage conflicts between family and employment demands, improve job skills, expand problem solving abilities, master budgeting and time management.

Employs 10 high school students as interns for six weeks during the summer in local government departments, and New Rochelle funded community-based agencies and programs.

Provides sheltered workshops offering on-site factory like setting, food service program and clerical training for adults with developmental disabilities. Also available are supportive and competitive work programs.

Provides families with the chance to learn about, interact with and enjoy animals in a natural farm setting. Offers spring, summer, fall and planting field trips throughout the year. Employment Services model utilizes an employment developer to assist with job placement and a job-coach who provides support to the people in the form of job-site training, on-going assessment and follow-along for as long as necessary in order for the people to maintain employment.

Provides a ten-week paid internship program to youth. Coordinates placement opportunity within their field of interest to receive mentorship and training resulting in experience and expose to the talent pools entering the workforce.

Provides services to individuals with disabilities to search for, obtain, and maintain a job within the community through skill building and supportive services.

Provides help to individuals who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions and have had difficulty obtaining or maintaining competitive employment. The program assists people in finding employment, of their choice, in the community. Staff provide on or off-site job coaching and support to ensure that once employed, a person can learn the job duties, feel comfortable in the work environment, and have supportive relationships with supervisors and co-workers. When the person and the employer feel the employment situation is stable, an employment specialist can provide ongoing support.

A collaborative effort between the City of Peekskill, Westchester County, and Peekskill School District to provide at-risk youth with subsidized and unsubsidized paid summer work experience, unpaid community service experience, educational and social skills. Focuses on the goal of placing youth in unsubsidized employment while achieving academic success.

Supported employment assists individuals to secure competitive employment in jobs best suited to their abilities and preferences. Ongoing staff and informal supports are available to help with job retention. Supported employment may include ACCESS –VR funded intensive services consisting of job development, placement, situational assessment, job coaching, and OMH-funded extended services.

Offers supported employment opportunities which include job development, job coaching, person centered vocational profiles, vocational assessments, vocational planning, counseling, employment, job training, job placement, and transitional support to school age students.
