SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM | SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Encourages youth to establish a good work ethic through employment and workshops. Promotes punctuality, teamwork, how to follow rules and regulations, as well as respect of self, co-workers and supervisors. At- risk youth are selected between the ages of 14-18. Interviews are held in May and orientation in June. Employment is seven weeks, Monday-Friday. Worksites are established within the community at local churches, schools, agencies, parks and beaches. Workshops are given throughout the program in areas such as Banking, Job Attitudes, Career Goals, Job Interviewing and Resume Writing. Upon completion of the program is an Awards Lunch where every youth receives an award. Call for further information.

Offers a ten week summer course for college students in the field of journalism. A letter from the college they are attending is required along with students transcript. If you are unable to reach a staff member, please call back during the hours indicated. ** Offers a comprehensive year round program including participation in local youth councils and a County-wide youth council. Summer programs include youth employment, leisure time and recreational/cultural activities. Also offers a Martial Arts Program, career explorations, Martin Luther King Scholarship which is given annually to deserving students, and the Kearse Soccer Clinic. Year round individual and family counseling offered. Tutorial and homework assistance is also available as well as workshops on substance prevention, underage drinking, teenage pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS.
