Assists clients in obtaining needed services, housing assistance and court advocacy. Makes education referrals for GED, adult education and ESOL classes. Provides support for the elderly, undocumented residents and emergency assistance for families. Youth services include Head Start, enrichment, sports, leadership and prevention programs.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES / JOBS PLUS | GREATER MENTAL HEALTH OF NEW YORK

Provides help to individuals who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions and have had difficulty obtaining or maintaining competitive employment. The program assists people in finding employment, of their choice, in the community. Staff provide on or off-site job coaching and support to ensure that once employed, a person can learn the job duties, feel comfortable in the work environment, and have supportive relationships with supervisors and co-workers. When the person and the employer feel the employment situation is stable, an employment specialist can provide ongoing support.

Devoted to assisting residents of the county to find employment. It is the aim of the Job Development Center to assist all residents, with emphasis on minority group members, in achieving this goal.
