This service is for adults with disabilities including: standardized assessment, specialized assessment, work site evaluation, community based assessments, work readiness. Prevocational services are offered through community pre-vocational services for the IDD, the Jawonio Thrift Shop at our Yonkers location and Connections/Pre-Employment Program for the behavioral health challenged in our Yonkers locations. In addition, Jawonio has offered grant funded green cleaning training programs in Rockland and Westchester.

Offers a variety of opportunities for employment. Career Options provides job readiness, skill assessment, diagnostic vocational evaluation, résumé development, career counseling, job development, on the job training, and follow up services. The Vocational Centers offer job opportunities for individuals to develop and improve the skills necessary to meet their goals for employment. The Center focuses on soft skills development such as acceptance of supervision, following directions, attention to task, co-worker relationships, job completion and time management.

The Employment Connection, a division of UCP of Long Island , assists individuals with developmental disabilities and those with acquired physical disabilities to meet their career goals. Assists job seekers with employment assessment, training, job placement and job support.

Site-based Prevocational TrainingWe encourage individuals to focus on the things that they can do rather than skills that limit their vocational performance. Onsite in JM Murray's manufacturing warehouse, we assist with developing long-term vocational goals that align with an individual's unique skills, strengths and interests.Community-based Prevocational TrainingOur community-based program matches individuals with local businesses to explore the world of work. Participants are assessed, trained and accompanied by JM staff.Employment ConnectionOur full-service agency provides employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. We assist with job exploration, readiness training and ongoing employment support for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.ACE (Assisted Competitive Employment)Program participants 18 years or older with a mental health diagnosis, receive vocational rehabilitation and mental health supports to obtain and sustain integrated competitive employment. Through group and individual activities including: goal setting, career exploration and volunteer experiences, we help participants improve their self-confidence, stamina, skills and dependability in a supportive environment.Transitional Employment Placement (TEP)Program participants 18 years or older with a mental health diagnosis explore a variety of employment opportunities through short-term placements and volunteering to strengthen skills with the goal of achieving assisted or unassisted competitive employment in the field of their choice.ACCES- VR (Vocational Rehabilitation)Assisting Individuals with disabilities to achieve and maintain employment and to support independent living. All services under ACCES-VR are contracted services funded by the New York State Department of Education.

Provide information regarding education and counseling services to individuals who are seeking independent living skills, supported employment, adult education, and building occupational skills

Supported Employment: Services include pre-employment, placement, post-employment, case management, crisis intervention, and job coaching. Transportation may be available depending upon placement; not always available. Vocational Assessment Services: Services include vocational evaluations, career counseling, pre-employment testing, and linkage. Driver's Rehabilitation: Services include training, clinical evaluations, and vehicle modification evaluations, available for individuals with severe limitations.

Offers supported employment opportunities which include job development, job coaching, person centered vocational profiles, vocational assessments, vocational planning, counseling, employment, job training, job placement, and transitional support to school age students.

Offers short term career training programs focusing on employment skills and placement services for visually impaired individuals. Both online and in-house courses are available which focus on computer skills, customer service skills, telecommunications, and work readiness. Emphasis is placed on computer skills including Microsoft Office, Assistive Technology, and hands on experiential learning. Also provides employment services including resume development, interviewing skills training, career counseling, and job search/placement support. Program is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm in-house; specific course hours will vary, or be available as online offerings.
