OWS provides comprehensive employment services, including job skill training programs, unemployment information, cover letter and resume assistance workshops, job referrals, internships, support services, career counseling and more.

Provides the following services. Employment Readiness: Career counseling, career exploration, career advisement, resume preparation, interviewing assistance, online video interview assistance, and custom made workshops. Job Search Assistance: Access to computer labs, copy service, free mailing, current job listings, labor market information, job fairs, job clubs, and "Meet the Employers" on-site career fairs, where employers are on-site to recruit and interview job seekers. Career Advancement and Training Grants: Connected education, training programs, and support services that enable individuals to secure a job or advance in an in-demand industry or occupation. Training grants available for in-demand occupations such as Nursing, HVAC, Machining, CDL, Mechanics, Accounting, and over 50 additional occupations. Job Training: High school equivalency diploma classes, soft skills classes, and training on computer and internet use, keyboarding, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, and Intermediate/Advanced Excel and Word. Focuses on creating asset development opportunities for both residents and entrepreneurs. Assists individuals in growing and investing in their communities by providing lending capital, training, consulting, technical assistance, seminars, workshops, and low-cost business rental space to new and existing businesses that would otherwise lack access to these services. Assists area residents in developing asset based thinking by providing financial literacy training, basic budgeting, and home appliance loans to combat predatory lenders. Loan programs and Cottage Industry Assistance Program target low to moderate income existing and prospective individuals. Chautauqua Microenterprise Loan Fund and the Women and Minority Microenterprise Loan Fund Programs help small businesses by providing small business start up and expansion loans. The small business incubator offers small businesses an opportunity to grow and stabilize with subsidies around rent, business services, and technical assistance. Program site serves as a Warming Center during times of excessive cold and as a Cooling Center during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Warming/Cooling Center is open before going there.

Provides case management for non-violent ex-offenders ages 16-55. Assists clients with clothing, transportation and other personal needs. Provides support services to clients with the goal of making them more productive community members. Offers information and referral to appropriate agencies to address client needs. Assists clients with job readiness and placement in appropriate training programs affiliated with local unions, BOCES and adult education. Seeks job placements for participants and provides tokens for transportation.

Offers programs and services to help criminal justice-involved individuals prepare to enter and re-enter today’s workforce. Through the Employment Center programs and services, such as Job Search & Placement Assistance, Employment Counseling, and eligibility-based Training & Educational Opportunities are provided, Fresh Start is specifically designed to identify barriers faced by the ex-offender and offers guidance, techniques and proven strategies to create a path back into the workforce and successful career advancement. Provides job readiness and placement for formerly incarcerated individuals who are homeless when they get out of prison and are motivated to work and get back into the main-stream, also aids in emergency and phased-permanent housing, coupled with some counseling.

Provides critical services to those leaving the Broome County Jail only.

Provides educational, workforce exposure and opportunities to youth 14 to 24 years who are either in and out-of-school and involved with the criminal justice system.

Post transitional re-entry program for ex-offenders into the community and helping their families with programs and advocacy. Assist with job search, resume writing, life skill development, anger management/conflict resolution, strengthening family bonds, preparing for interviews and referrals to professional agencies are available.

An online resource guide and information service for persons formerly incarcerated, those working through probation or parole, and others similarly in need.
