Provides free day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of single-parent students who meet certain criteria. (low income, single parents attending high school, college, business school, voc-tech or GED classes) Offers childcare during work hours in addition to their school hours. Presents workshops to these parents on child care, home management, nutrition, and educational options.

* Provides referrals to all types of child care programs. * Provides information on guidelines to child care subsidy eligibility. * Offers educational programs, seminars and classes on child care issues. * Offers development and training of professional child care providers and programs. * Operates the Repurpose and More Store providing donated materials from local manufacturers for craft projects. * Operates Farm to Preschool - seasonal farm markets at three child care providers in Rochester. * Provides data for all child care needs - breakdown of existing services and service gaps. * Offers a Regional Infant/Toddler Resource Center. Early Childhood Professional Library. * Offers Infant/Toddler Mental Health support in participating child care programs.

Investigates all reported allegations of fraud in the Temporary Assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, HEAP, and Day Care programs. Also investigates day care providers being paid by Social Services who do not really provide care and cases involving food stamp trafficking. Does not investigate Social Security, Disability, Workman's Comp, Unemployment, or Section 8.

Provides subsidies to employed persons for the cost of day care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years in certified day care homes, day care centers, group homes, or acceptable informal providers.

Provides supportive services to very low income Veterans and their families who are homeless or are in danger of losing their homes. Services include outreach, case management, and assistance obtaining VA and other benefits. Provides time-limited payments to third parties, such as landlords, utility companies, moving and storage companies, and child care providers, if those payments can help Veteran families stay in or obtain permanent, sustainable housing.

Update November 2025- The main UW 211 ALICE program is still out of funding, however we have received a small amount of funds for utility assistance only due to the delay in HEAP opening this year. We are able to provide assistance to ALICE eligible clients for one time NYSEG shut offs or propane/oil tank refills or wood/pellet deliveries. HEAP income guidelines apply for this specific assistance. Clients must still try other programs first before applying for ALICE. Provides day care subsidies for parents/guardians who meet a certain set of requirements while they attend work and/or school. Families receiving Temporary Assistance and are attending a work/training program, and families that are not receiving Family Assistance can qualify on basis of income.

Sullivan County Department of Family Services in New York City, the Human Resources Administration and Agency for Child Development determines family eligibility based on income, reasons for needing day care, and you child's age and individual needs. In most cases, families receiving a child care subsidy can choose any legal child care provider.
