Provides caregivers of individuals with disabilities relief by allowing them to hire an individual of their choice to provide care in their absence. Individuals are awarded a number of hours per year.

Provides reimbursement for respite care to families with developmentally disabled individuals with severe medical difficulties or who are difficult to care for.

Provides reimbursement of expenses incurred for 4 different types of respite services, which include in-home, no-limits, recreational and/or travel respite services. These services are consumer controlled, providing consumers with the ability to hire their own staff and caregivers.

* Helps caregivers, financially, with either in-home care, use of a respite bed at a facility, or attendance at an adult day program for a loved one who can not be left alone for any extended period of time.
