Represents the Department of Social Services in administrative hearings.

Provides Medicaid application assistance to individuals 65 years of age and older or those in receipt of Supplemental Security Income or Medicare. All other populations should call NY State of Health.

Covered medical services includes care provided by a primary care physician, specialists visits, emergency care, diagnostic testing and treatment, women's health services, prescription and dental care coverage and long term care services including home health services as referred by your primary care physician.

This program consists of a combination of programs and services designed to improve education and access for community members working toward optimal health and well-being. In partnership with health care providers, Community Health Workers provide intake, referral, navigation and case management services to patients at Primary Care Practices.

Services Offered: Information and referral services for pregnant women and parenting families STEP Early Childhood (birth-5yrs) effective parenting classes Professional and consumer health education and assistance to enroll in available medical coverage programs, including Medicaid and Child Health Plus and help with other insurance issues Smoking cessation program with telephone counseling Free resource library including videos on childbirth, parenting, nutrition, etc.

Provides payment directly to medical care vendors/providers, health care professionals, hospitals/institutions for needed medical care and services to low-income eligible persons and SSI persons. Medicaid ID cards issued for all eligible persons in household.

Social Services promotes self-sufficiency by providing financial and social services to eligible County residents.Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) are SNAP recipients aged 18-64 who are able to work and don't have a dependent child in their household. They can only receive SNAP benefits for a limited time (3 months in a 36-month period) unless they meet certain work requirements or have an exemption. These work requirements generally involve working or participating in a work program for at least 20 hours per week (80 hours per month).
