Adult and Children's Compeer Program | Family Services at 310 Pennsylvania Avenue
Recruits, screens and matches trained volunteers in one-to-one friendship relationships with adults receiving mental health services. Program is based on the concept that a volunteer's friendship and support can offset the loneliness and isolation of mental illness. Volunteers meet with their matched friends a minimum of 4 hours a month at a time and place of their choosing to share social, recreational, and educational activities. Compeer offers programs for children and youth called PAL and Circle of Friends programs to match children and adolescents receiving mental health services identified with social support needs with a mentor.

Liberty Center for Youth
A free, daily after-school program for students ages 9-16 years old. Offers a computer/tech room with 10 computers as well as 10 tablets that youth may use for homework or recreational purposes. Provides supervised game time in the gym as well as a game room featuring air hockey, pool, ping pong, and foosball. There is a cafeteria/program space used for a daily snack provided by the Batavia City School District.
Activities include clubs, open gym and sports, active games, socialization and free choice, homework help, mentoring/tutoring, computers/game systems, community involvement, and enrichment activities.
Transportation to the center is provided by the school; however, parents must arrange this with the school.

Assistance includes group counseling, job referrals, enrollment in an educational program, assistance applying for food stamps and Medicaid, and supportive living housing. Also provides court advocacy for individuals who are mandated by the court to attend one of BTB's programs, as well as those individuals who voluntarily enroll in the BTB program and/or are also involved in the court (have been charged with a crime). Collaborates with many agencies to provide referrals and linkages to services that are mandated by parole and/or the court.
Provides mentoring to men, women, and youth. A mentor is assigned to each individual and he or she provides assistance navigating whatever issues are confronting the individual's life.

LPP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. The Liberty Partnerships Program serves those students in grades 7-12 who may not be reaching their academic potential by providing academic services that will improve their ability to complete high school and successfully enter postsecondary education or the workforce. LPP students who are juniors and seniors are also eligible to enroll in a two-semester program that leads successful students to one college credit upon completion. This offering contains a one-semester non-credit course that focuses on reading, writing, study skills, critical thinking and computer skills. The second semester course exposes students to topics of interest to college students and enhances their basic research skills. Additional credit-bearing courses are offered to students who successfully complete this sequence. LPP Program Services include: College preparatory coursework; Suffolk County Community College Seminar (leads to 1.0 college credits); LPP club and newsletter; Team building experiences; Cultural enrichment activities and field trips; Counseling; Tutoring and college placement test; ACT/SAT preparation classes; Regents review sessions; Student and parent leadership sessions and Workforce preparation which includes visits to and internships with business, industry and local colleges. Designed to meet the needs of parents/guardians that are raising children with serious emotional disturbances and/or behavioral challenges. Goals are developed and based on the child/families strengths, needs, and desire for the identified support services. Customized Community Services can also be provided in school and mental health settings if there is a contract in place with a funder who has agreed to purchase Customized Services from Hillside.
Customized Services may include any of the following, depending upon availability in your area:
-Individual skillbuilding (Examples of individual skillbuilding include working on improving anger management, social, independent living, or other important skills; transitioning home from an out-of-home placement; and learning strategies for managing difficult life situations.)
-Parenting support and education
-Skill-based groups
-Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (in some areas)
-Mentoring
