Oversees Licenses and Monitors Daycare and Home based Daycare Facilities. Offers online information including a Child Care Facility Search feature which provides a listing of regulated child care providers in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. There is also an online screening tool to help parents determine their eligibility for financial support from the state's Child Care Assistance Program for low or no-cost child care.

Child care is provided not only to those on Temporary Assistance, but also to those working families who meet income guidelines for subsidies. Various kinds of child care are available throughout Nassau County. To obtain more information call the Day Care New Applications Unit. Helps parents with finding subsidies for daycare. Referrals for early intervention services, child care, health insurance, NYS licensed and registered child care.
Administers enrollment of low income families using friends or family for child care in a DSS program that provides child care subsidies. Inspects legally exempt child providers to ensure they meet minimum health and safety requirements. Technical assistance is provided via phone, on-site or off-site.
