A youth operated seasonal assistance program for older adults, operating in July and August of each year. Youth can assist with yard work, home cleaning, and specific household tasks at no cost to older adults in need of help. Tasks that youth can help with include window washing, annual cleaning, small outdoor painting projects, yard cleanup, garage cleanout, mulching, and more.

Offers several home care and long term care programs, depending on eligibility and care needs, to individuals who require assistance at home due to age, illness, post hospitalization, or disability.

The Office for the Aging offers many services for the senior residents of Steuben County including, but not limited to, information and referral, nutrition through congregate meals, advocacy, support groups, transportation services, caregiver services, case management, and the Bone Builders and Senior Meal Programs. Bone Builders and the Senior Dinner Clubs are overseen by Pro Action of Steuben-Yates.

Program services include housekeeping, home safety, and errands for frail elderly people.

Provides a variety of specialized protective services to vulnerable adults, ages 18 and older whose condition or circumstances make them vulnerable to abuse, neglect, and exploitation by others. These services are designed to prevent or remedy the neglect, exploitation, or abuse of vulnerable adults by strengthening their capacity to function and be self-directing. Services include: homemaker services, home management, housing improvement, housekeeper chores, adult residential services, and health related services.

A year round service that works as a liaison between Amherst residents who need assistance with extra jobs in or around their home and Amherst youth ages 12-20 who are interested in working with these residents. Teens fill out an application indicating what kind of work they are willing to do. Residents call to make a request for assistance, detailing the kind of work they need done. A teen participant is then contacted about the job possibility and given the details of the job and the contact information for the resident. The teen contacts the resident to discuss the date/time of the job duties, date/time of the job, and pay. Due to safety concerns, requests for work involving climbing ladders, roof work, carrying heavy/large objects up or down stairs, or anything that would require driving are not honored. Work opportunities available include: raking, shoveling, mowing, weeding, gardening, tutoring, putting away shopping, errand running, pet care, child care, assisting elderly/disabled, computer tutoring, basement/garage cleaning, help with parties, and light housework.

* Offers someone who can assist with a listening ear or a helping hand when the primary caregiver cannot be there.* Provides respite care that offers short term breaks that relieve stress, restore energy, and promote balance in your life for the family.* Provides shopping assistance for groceries, personal items, gifts and prescriptions.* Provides meal preparation, laundry service, making beds and changing linens, tidying up, running errands, and medication reminders.* Offers transportation to doctors' visits, dialysis procedure, trips to the hairdresser or barber, or just visiting a friend.

* Coordinates the match between active seniors and seniors who need a little help in their home. The senior workforce can relate with their fellow seniors. Services include respite care, companion care, light housekeeping, meal prep, medication reminders, rides to doctors appointments, shopping, errands, laundry.

* Provides individuals the connection to assistance necessary to stay in the home including:

• Non medical personal care
• Housekeeper/chore services
• Case management
• Information and referral services

*Allows individuals the opportunity to choose what services they receive through Consumer Directed EISEP.

*Provides linkage to outside agencies who will perform these services.

Provides in home care services and living assistance allowing seniors and disabled individuals to live independently. Services include: companion care, personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, escorted transportation, errands/shopping, medication reminders, incontinence care, monitoring mobility and Alzheimers/Dementia care.

Assists veterans or the surviving spouse of a veteran with financial aid through the VA to help pay for non-medical home care services, such as light housekeeping, errand running, and meal preparation. Call for more information.

CareCircle helps seniors understand the individual resources and help available to help the senior maximize living independently. Fully utilizing the senior's network such as family, friends, neighbors, and other personal connections can help the senior live in a non medical facility setting comfortably
