Participants may receive training in daily living skills such as, but not limited to, healthy living, cooking, physical fitness, arts and crafts, socialization, music and self-advocacy. There also may be opportunities to participate in a volunteer community experiences to explore career options. Other supports include learning how to access safe and effective transportation within the communty and support to individuals attending community college.

TRANSITION SERVICES PROGRAM @ BROOKHAVEN LEARNING CENTER | BROOKHAVEN LEARNING CENTER @ SAMOSET MIDDLE SCHOOL

Offers Transition Services Program at Brookhaven Learning Center which is an included site program of the Brookhaven Learning Center. The Transition Services Program provides a half or full day, applied academics program, which emphasizes life and employability skills, to students with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. By utilizing a variety of simulated and real-life settings, students are prepared to transition from school to post-secondary outcomes. Included in the Transition Services Program is the Work Activities Center (WAC) for students sixteen to twenty-one, who meet established criteria, to have a volunteer work experience in the community under the direct supervision of a job coach. Serves students ages 14 to 21 in grades 9th - 12th at the Secondary Level. The Brookhaven Learning Center is offered at various locations.

Responsible Fatherhood Program - COI

Works with dads--biological fathers, adoptive fathers, father figures, and grandfathers--of children up to 24 years old. Provides life skills training, life coach services, employability skills training, parenting skills training, 24/7 DADS class, and MoneySmart program to benefit dads. Works with dads both in the community and in incarceration. Incentives are provided to complete the training.
