Independent Living provides a bridge between the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing cultures in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Dutchess Counties, this program is actively engaged in community outreach and education, employment, advocacy, service coordination, counseling and technical support.

Conducts workshops/training programs for students, faculty, staff of Long Island schools and colleges. Addresses issue of school safety and other gay/lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth issues. Conducts professional and corporate sensitivity trainings.

Offers individuals who have lost someone through homicide assistance in writing parole blocking petitions. Also provides emotional support through family support meetings. Accompanies families to court and to meetings with the District Attorney. Offers sensitivity training. Advocates for family assistance and crime victims rights.
