ParentChild+, formerly called the Parent-Child Home Program, uses education to break the cycle of poverty for under-resourced families with young children. ParentChild+ works one-on-one with families and with family child care (FCC) providers to ensure children achieve their greatest potential in school and in life. Our dual models enable the program to blanket underserved communities with school readiness supports and reach families with children four and under who would otherwise not be ready for school. Highly trained Early Learning Specialists engage families and FCC providers by modeling reading, conversation, and play activities. Through one-on-one visits to families and visits to providers and children in home-based care settings, ParentChild+ builds opportunities for the most vulnerable children and families. Since 1965, ParentChild+ has been assisting under-served communities in replicating and expanding these proven models, setting children on the road to school and life success and strengthening families, providers, and communities.

Provides day camp for children ages 4-11. Activities include canoeing, sailing, basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, field hockey, football, arts and crafts, drama, baseball, aerobics, and archery. American Red Cross swimming offered every day by a certified instructor. Call for further information.

Provides free summer concerts at the Bay Shore Band Shell.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, Readers Advisory, E-Reference and a Teen Advisory Board. Programs may include cooking instruction, arts and crafts, fitness instruction and a summer reading club.

Provides a space with 6 computer workstations for individuals to go online, search for jobs, update resumes, or surf the web. Also offers computer classes on various software programs and to improve skills.

Offers a dance and drumming program for middle and high school students with instruction and choreography.

Offered together The Hofstra University/LIHSA summer partnership provides an unparalleled experience for students in Grades 7-12 to be guided by faculty mentors and staff who understand the unique needs of young artists. These classes are held on the LIHSA campus. LIHSA’s facilities are specially designed to support the school’s mission. LIHSA’s 38,000 square feet across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities. It is situated on 4.5 acres in Syosset Long Island, with plenty of courtyard space to have a picnic lunch and draw artistic inspiration. With four dance studios on campus, a larger theatre that holds 350 audience members with lighting and sound equipment, two smaller black box theatres, an audio-recording studio, numerous classroom spaces, practice rooms, art studios, film editing room, dark room, digital music space and a carpentry shop for scenic design, it is a great place to spend for a young artist to spend their summer. Programs are flexible; choose to enroll in a one week offering or combine several to be on campus for all four weeks. Offers classes on Arts and Crafts, Cooking, Self Care Group, and Gardening Group (Spring). Serves youth living in Nassau and Suffolk Counties

Provides a variety of educational, interesting and fun opportunities to meet new people and promote lifelong learning. Courses are offered in: Adult Auto/Defensive Driving; Boating; College Prep; Creative Arts; Financial & Legal; Health & Wellness; Music & Performing Arts; Physical Fitness; Special Interests and Stitchery. Offers various fun activities for children and adolescents to encourage reading and help make it fun, including a special collection of books, DVDs, and e-books.

Offers culinary courses in: Commercial Culinary Arts Program and Professional Baking. Additional course offerings include: Culinary Tour of the World; Holiday Baking; Introduction to French Pastries; Cooking 1-2-3; Deceptively Delicious and Sweet Treats. All programs offered at various sites throughout Suffolk County. Selection varies each semester.

Provides seniors with general computing classes, walking club, country line dancing, chair yoga, craft classes, photography classes, exercise programs, blood pressure screening, knitting and crocheting circle, trips, and more.

Offers marine and environmental education, as well as maritime history tours and classes for students 3 years of age to adults. Call for more information.

Offers workshops that vary from year to year, and may include such courses as cartooning, painting, pottery, digital photography, website design, ninjutsu, chess, drama, fun in the kitchen, language arts, math, card sharks, CPR and Survivor. Call for current schedule and course fee.

Provides art classes in drawing, painting and watercolor techniques, from beginner to intermediate, including one-on-one instruction. Students will work with still life, photographs and imagination.

Provides recreational and educational programs to youth during the summer. Activities include special guest, playing sports, arts and crafts, and "theme" days. Program is offered in July and August.

Offers curriculum based English classes for advanced adult language learners.

Delivers comprehensive, community-based academic and workforce development programs and provides support services leading to enhanced employment opportunities, access to further education, personal growth and development. Provides educational programming, outreach, and classes in commercial fisheries, seafood marketing, aquaculture, marine environmental issues, and fisheries technology. Offers a summer camp program featuring environmental science for children 6-12 years old.

Offers classes throughout the year in drama, and various types of music and dance, including vocal instruction, African Percussion, Steel band, and Photography during the summer.

Offers magic camp to campers in grades 3-9 (co-ed). Go behind the scenes into the secret world of magicians and learn from those who have dedicated their lives to honing this extraordinary craft. With a curriculum built for campers trying their hand at magic for the first time, to those with prior experience, our magic camp offers illusions for everyone. Our passionate instructors look to provide guidance and instruction on group and personal levels. Not only do we teach tricks and technique, but also aim to improve communications skills, helping to build self-esteem and confidence. The camp is extremely interactive and teaches magic through hands-on instruction and demonstrations. Instructors explore various magical genres throughout the week and also teach a bit about the history behind them; stage, parlor, street, close-up, slight-of hand - amongst others - and allow campers to be creative and explore which they feel most comfortable with. Along with “tricks of the trade” some highlights of the program are; card tricks, misdirection, coin magic, rope tricks, mind reading games, improv skills and performance tips. All programs run weekly from Monday to Friday and camp hours are 9:00am-4:00pm. Extended Hours are available with Early Drop-Off (8am) and Late Pick-Up (5:30pm) options. Additional charges apply.
