Offers a teaching garden at John Jay Homestead and operates a a community garden for children, teenagers, families and seniors to garden together, and harvesting the produce. Garden support, expert advice and workshops are provided throughout the summer.

Operates East Meadow Farm (EMF) Horticulture and Demonstration Garden Center. Provides educational information on water conservation, pesticide reduction and pollution awareness, integrated pest management practices, horticulture waste reduction, plant care for garden/landscape and pesticide safety. Operates Environmental Horticulture Information Center and a Horticulture Helpline. Horticulture enrollees receive L.I. Gardening Publication. Call for registration information. A volunteer-driven program where master gardeners offer education and guidance to local farmers, including a "hot line" website which focuses on a variety of gardening issues. As part of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) in the City of Poughkeepsie, NB II’s summer gardening program helps maintain and beautify flower gardens and planters owned by the City. 8 to 10 Poughkeepsie youths are employed to beautify approximately 21 gardens situated in and around the City of Poughkeepsie. Youth workers are engaged in activities such as planting, weeding, watering, and trellising. In addition to garden maintenance, activities that develop leadership and relationship skills are provided. They earn minimum wage, but do not receive an entry-level work readiness certificate. Separately, NB II partnered with Green Teen and Cornell University for a Spring 2023 Earth Day project. Watch for 2024 info.

Provides information in various methods to educate local farmers on management of their farms and gardens regarding season extension, marketing locally grown food, and vegetable and fruit production more effectively with an emphasis on environmentally friendly practices. Also provide landscape, grounds and turf management with current practices.

Offers an opportunity for anyone in the community to get involved in teaching others, helping to maintain local gardens, and aiding/guiding workshops.

Offers a certificate program that will develop and prepare individuals for careers in horticulture. Openings exist for technically-oriented specialists as sales representatives, managers, supervisors, and production managers in turf, nursery, parks, florists, landscaping, and closely related fields. Course offerings include: Botany; Soils: The Foundation of Life; Herbaceous Plants I; Horticulture II Growth and Development of Cultivated Plants; Horticulture I; Woody Plants I & II and Indoor Plants.
