Al-Anon is a group for anyone affected by another person's drinking. Al-Anon Family Groups includes Alateen for family members ages 12 to 18. Most Alateen groups meet at the same time and place as Al-Anon meetings. Each Alateen group has an adult Al-Anon member who serves as the group sponsor. Sponsors meet the NY State and NY Al-Anon legal criteria for adults working with minors. Alateen members facilitate their own meetings and routine operation of the group; sponsors are present and available for guidance and sharing knowledge of Al-Anon's principles.
