Confidential crisis support for current or former U.S. military personnel and their families.

Informs and assist members of the armed forces, veterans, their dependents and survivors in relation to (1) matters pertaining to education, training and retraining services and facilities, (2) health, medical and rehabilitation services and facilities, (3) provisions of federal, state and local laws and regulations affording special rights and privileges to members of the armed forces, veterans and their families, (4) employment and re-employment services, and other matters of similar related or appropriate nature. Vet2Vet groups are small groups of veterans, who meet weekly, to share knowledge, provide mutual support and share resources. Groups will maintain confidentiality, and are open to veterans of all generations, regardless of discharge status. Check with website for meeting times and location.

Provides a free, confidential weekly veterans facilitated support group offering a wide array of support and services/resources.

Offers veterans, including those with PTSD, support meetings, networking opportunities, creativity and job preparation workshops and social activity experience to promote a healthy transition back to civilian life. A particular focus is placed upon helping veterans showcase their talent and share their experiences through the arts, art shows, photography, music, dance and theatrical events.

Provides free, compassionate care for veterans and military families who are experiencing the long-term effects of all phases of military service and other life stresses, including relationship difficulties, school problems, and unemployment and relocation issues. We welcome veterans, including anyone who has served in the United States Armed Services, regardless of role, discharge status, or combat experience, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve. We also extend our services to the parents, siblings, spouses and partners, children, caretakers, and other family members of active-duty personnel, veterans, and members of the National Guard or Reserve. Sample Military Family Center Programs & Services include: post-traumatic stress; traumatic brain injury; depression; anxiety; alcohol and substance use disorder; grief and loss; relationship and family conflict; military sexual trauma; readjustment issues; parenting concerns and children’s behavioral or academic problems. In addition to general clinical programs, we offer the following specialty programs: Online Doctor Visits; Psychiatric Medication Management; Dual Diagnosis Program; Traumatic Brain Injury Program; Child and Family Program, Couples Therapy and ADHD Assessments. Provides a support network for the surviving families of those who have died in service to America. TAPS has a small professional staff and a large national volunteer network. Call for more information.

Offers individual, family and group therapy. Groups focus on the following issues: Grief, trauma, abuse, eating disorders, substance abuse, addiction and codependency. At-risk youth, women's empowerment and veterans and their families are among these groups. EAP affords clients the opportunity to gain knowledge about their negative behaviors while providing them with an emotionally safe environment for them to develop positive alternatives.

The center provides evidenced-based behavioral healthcare to individuals and families impacted by military service including: family members of all ages, active duty, reserve duty or veteran status, veterans who are not able to obtain VA services, and military service members. Supports the VA's effort to prevent at-risk veterans from becoming homeless and rapidly rehousing those who have fallen into homelessness. Promotes housing stability and helps connect veterans and their family members to VA services and other benefits. Offers additional services such as case management, housing counseling, fiduciary and payee services, access or referrals to mental health care, child care services, legal services, personal financial planning services, and temporary financial assistance to those who qualify. Provides individual and group readjustment counseling,(specific for war trauma) marital and family counseling, alcohol and drug counseling, bereavement counseling for family members of those killed or injured in the global war on terrorism, and support groups for spouse and significant others. Facilitates and coordinates leading medical research facilities which will be funded to work together to promote ways to help veterans and their families creates communities for the traumatically injured returning veterans in a supportive environment so they can buy their own affordable, well-built homes designed and built by veterans, especially for disabled veterans and their families provides vocational training as well as provides veterans assistance in helping establish their own business in order to help them re-integrate into society unifies veterans service organizations in order to effectively perform their missions in support of the National Disabled Veterans Business Council. This is accomplished by utilizing the print and broadcast media through the creation of television shows, films, documentaries, acquiring scripts, music and producing a concert series to entertain and make known to the public the issues related to returning from war.

Serves veterans as an advocate for compensation, pension, education and training, vocational rehabilitation, and additional benefits for survivors, burial and hospital care. The agency provides free transportation for veterans to either the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital or VA health clinic in East Meadow. The VSA provides returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans with information on the GI Bill, employment opportunities, VA claims, and referrals. Call for detailed information.
