Scouting | Boy Scouts of America - Allegheny Highlands Council

Provides opportunities for scouting to all boys and young adults in the counties served and support all units, and their volunteer leaders. Council is made up of all the chartered organizations and their volunteer scouters. Offers Cub Scout program to boys and girls, kindergarten through fifth grade. Offers Scouts BSA program is for boys and girls in sixth grade to age eighteen. Offers co-ed Venturing and Exploring programs which provide opportunities to experience career exploration in specific areas and high adventure for youth 14-20. Through an extensive on hands stem program we provide learning opportunities to youth through scouting for character development, citizenship and leadership training.

A program which aims to encourage youth to engage in healthy behaviors early in life that reduce preventable chronic diseases, unwanted pregnancy and the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. The youth participate in workshops and various activities, community service projects which help to build leadership skills and to help build up their community.

Girls on the Run of the Southern Tier (GOTRST) | Steuben Rural Health Network (SRHN) - Main Site

Provides an experiential learning experience for girls in grades 3-5 and 6-8 through combining training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The girls meet after school for 10 weeks and conclude each season with a community service project of their choice and a 5K celebratory run. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviors. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual, and physical development. Donations are accepted to help provide scholarships to participants.
