Provides shelter and adoption services for homeless, stray, and abused animals. Provides spay/neuter and vaccination services for all animal prior to adoption. Offers a pet pantry to individuals in need.

Operates a foster network to care for homeless cats and kittens as space allows. Adoptable cats and kittens can be seen at our Cat Shelter in Montour Falls. Also available dogs for adoption. All dogs will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, distemper, leptospirosis, parvo and kennel cough, treated for fleas and parasites, tested for heartworm and micro chipped.

An all-volunteer, nonprofit organization working in cooperation with the staff of the town's public shelter. Our volunteers are professionally trained as adoption advisers and dog handlers. Offers training and socialization programs and provide funds to improve the quality of life for our dogs including the "Mend-a-Paw" fund for special medical and surgical needs.

Approved volunteer applicants will be invited to the next orientation on a first come, first served basis and based on the organization's needs. The orientation will include an overview of services, programs and events at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter.

Provides shelter and care to injured, abused, lost and abandoned animals before finding them a new home through adoption. Helps reunite families with lost pets. Keeps potentially dangerous animals off the streets, provides dog control for the City of Buffalo. Offers help trapping and removing nuisance animals in addition to rodent control. Also exterminates pests that are on city property. Volunteer opportunities available.

Houses stray dogs and cats while attempting to find adoptive homes for them. Investigates complaints of dangerous animals. Offers low cost spaying and rabies program.

The Division of the Animal Shelter is responsible for administering and maintaining the Town's dog shelter, enforcing Local and State animal protection, control and licensing laws, and administering Town dog control services. This Division makes dogs available for adoption and operates from the Town's Animal Shelter. Also includes licenses, vaccinations, and surrendering dogs.
