Interprets and conserves the earth's biological diversity through research, education and citizen science focused on birds.Visitors can use the lab's observatory, exhibit areas and more than four miles of easy trails through Sapsucker Woods.

Interactive exhibits highlighting ever-changing history of life on earth including millions of specimens from microfossils to Ice Age giants. conducts, facilitates and communicates findings of paleontological research houses, curates and makes available specimen collections and a research library publishes technical and popular paleontology books and journals promotes earth history and paleontology through public exhibits and educational materials and programs for all levels of schools and students

Offers juried art shows and curated exhibits. Masters Show for Best in Show and Honorable Mention winners of juried shows. Receptions are every show opening, offering gallery talks and opportunities to meet exhibiting artists. Gallery lease opportunities.

Member artists exhibit paintings, photography, sculpture and mixed media to the corporate community. Also includes annual High Arts Showcase, featuring work by juniors and seniors of school districts participating in Council's Journey program, as well as several curated shows. Opening receptions with musical performances at all shows provide opportunities to meet exhibiting artists.

Zoo Education Volunteers (Docents) help to guide tours, spotlight animals, and educate the public about environmental issues around the world and at home. Gardening volunteers maintain the gardens on site. Special event volunteers assist with various tasks during the zoo's fundraising events throughout the year
