VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES | HOPE FOR YOUTH

Volunteer mentor and/or tutor children and adolescents who live either in therapeutic foster care homes or in group home environments. Volunteer is individually matched with a child. Volunteers must pass New York State Child Abuse Central Registry clearance, a criminal records check by fingerprint and a DMV license check as well as provide professional and personal references. Flexible hours, request minimum of 12 hours per month. College-age, Adults.

Troy Boys & Girls Club has opportunities available for volunteers in almost every capacity. Working with children in their groups during after school programs (mentoring, tutoring), providing specialized programs for youth and teens (arts/crafts, science, technology, dramatic arts, dance, career exploration, job preparedness), administrative support (data entry, database management, prepare mailings, office assistant, etc.), capital improvement projects, and much more.

AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE PROGRAM | HISPANIC BROTHERHOOD OF ROCKVILLE CENTRE

Offers an after-school program and full day child care, during school vacations including the summer, for children ages 5-17 residing in the Town of Hempstead. Homework assistance is provided by volunteers with an emphasis on reading, expressive and receptive language skills, mathematics and concept development. Recreational activities and snacks are provided. Collaboration with local schools is encouraged by the program coordinator and bilingual staff. Older students (ages 13-17) may serve as program volunteers, translators or participate as interns in local businesses. On-site child care.
