Zoo Education Volunteers (Docents) help to guide tours, spotlight animals, and educate the public about environmental issues around the world and at home. Gardening volunteers maintain the gardens on site. Special event volunteers assist with various tasks during the zoo's fundraising events throughout the year

Offers an opportunity for anyone in the community to get involved in teaching others, helping to maintain local gardens, and aiding/guiding workshops.

Certified water quality testing lab measures numerous water quality parameters, including coliform / e.coli bacteria, nitrates, lead and more. Partners with volunteers to monitor local water quality including monitoring harmful algal blooms on Cayuga Lake.

Offers volunteers a variety of opportunities of outdoor education and recreation, such as teaching, help at specific events, trail maintenance, gardening, exhibit construction, receptionist for 2-hr shift on occasional Saturday, snowplow parking lot, assembly bi-monthly newsletter, and other projects at five sites. Volunteers <18 yrs must be accompanied by parent or adult, on case-by-case approval.
