Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a treatment for young children with emotional and behavioral disorders, such as not listening to adults, throws temper tantrums, has difficulty socializing with others, and more. The focus of the treatment is to improve the parent-child relationship.

Provides psycho educational assessment and counseling services to children and families, and counseling for adults. The center also provides consultation to schools and other agencies in the community. Clinical Services are provided by advanced Masters and Doctoral students under the supervision of licensed mental health providers that are faculty members.

Provides outpatient individual, group, conjoint and family counseling, therapy groups, medication and other mental health services for community residents, especially those who have acute or chronic psychiatric disorders or who may be experiencing difficulty resolving personal or interpersonal conflicts or making personal adjustments to stressful life situations such as separation, divorce, widowhood, loss of a child, poor health, unemployment, family violence, delinquency or substance abuse. Services are offered to adults and children.

Provides individual, marital/couple, and family counseling services. Master level therapists are trained to address many emotional issues including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, parent-child difficulties, personal adjustment and stress related issues.

Provides parenting education with a therapeutic aspect for families that have been identified as at-risk for child abuse/neglect, foster care placement or residential treatment.

Offers a home-based program in which counselors and families work together on specific family issues that need to be addressed. Issues may include parent/child relationships, family communications, problem solving, school concerns and feelings management. Services will focus on developing a specific plan of action that directly address the strengths, needs and interests of the family.

Offers unique and technologically advanced treatments for patients whose fears inhibit their quality of life. The clinic has also successfully treated clients with post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition caused by an unusually devastating and/or tragic experience. Some common phobias treated at the clinic include: travel on airplanes, trains; public speaking; animals and heights. The center also treats patients with PTSD. The Saltzman Center is open Monday through Saturday. All therapy services are by appointment only. Fees are set at the time therapy is initiated. All services are provided in a professional manner and conform to the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association. Provides an 23 bed acute psychiatric unit certified by the New York State Department of Health and the Office for Mental Health. It is affiliated with the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Department of Psychiatry. The unit serves mentally ill patients as well as mentally ill, chemically addicted (MICA) patients. Its interdisciplinary approach includes board certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, recreation therapists, and registered dietitians. It provides 24 hour nursing care by a team of psychiatric nurses and nursing assistants. The center follows a structured approach to allow for individual treatment. Therapies include medication management, individual and group therapy, family counseling and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). Outpatient psychiatry is offered at 300 Atlantic Avenue, Greenport.
