Trauma Response Services - Crisis Services
Provides intervention for children, adolescents, adults, and groups who have been exposed to traumatic events such as homicide, suicide, aggravated assault, or community violence. Individuals, families, and the community are offered critical incident stress management which provides education, normalization, and relief of trauma symptoms. When necessary, referrals to support groups and/or on-going counseling services are provided. Follow-up visits are provided as needed to promote the recovery of individuals suffering from the effects of trauma.

A peer-led, confidential warmline for young adults (ages 14-21) who are currently or have once been impacted by the child welfare / foster care system. * Provides support and information through a confidential crisis hotline for pregnant women who are hiding their pregnancy and need assistance with alternatives to reduce the rate of infant abandonment. * Coordinates a plan with woman who feel helpless and alone during an unplanned/unwanted pregnancy, many of whom are close to their due date and have no plans for once the baby is born. * Connects women with emotional support, baby supplies, parenting classes, shelter, medical care, employment, adoption assistance and other possible resources in the community. * Helps women consider using the safe surrender law.

Provides school-age children, adolescents, and parents with immediate and confidential support and problem solving assistance for problems of every day living. Callers who talk of suicide, depression, drug and/or alcohol use/abuse receive assessment and linkage to appropriate agencies and community services. Specially trained counselors assist young callers to deal effectively with the many changes, frustrations, pressures, and decisions of the day to day experience of growing up. Also assists parents in dealing more effectively with the increasing stress and demands of raising children.

The average length of stay at Affinity Place can be 3 to 5 days and then a Peer Support Specialist will complete a follow up on individual progress for up to 30 or 60 days.
