Provides inpatient mental health care. Short-term, crisis care psychiatric hospitalization is provided for children, adolescents, and adults struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal thoughts, and other mental illness. Stabilization of the presenting psychiatric crisis is followed by a collaborative discharge plan using supportive outpatient services. Specialized Programs include: Child and Adolescent, Adult, Women's and Men's Programming, Dual Diagnosis/MICA Treatment (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted), Holistic Treatment Options (Yoga, Massage, Tai-Chi, Drumming, Pastoral Care), Alternative Therapies and Support (Pet Therapy, Art Therapy, Peer Support, etc) and more. The Elmira Psychiatric Center provides a wide array of comprehensive psychiatric services including Inpatient care and Community Based Psychiatric Services. Inpatient programs (located in Elmira) consists of a 52 bed Adult Unit and a 12 bed Child/Adolescent Unit. Community-based services comprise the largest component of the treatment spectrum and include Assertive Community Treatment, Clinic Treatment, Community Residences, School-based Day Treatment, Drop-In Centers, Family Care Residences, Intensive Case Management, Mobile Mental Health, and Prepaid Mental Health.
