Provides mental health evaluations and court testimony on individuals appearing before the county, district, or Supreme Court. In addition, the department provides consultation services on behalf of individuals in family court. Call for additional information and inquiry.

Provides crisis counseling, individual/group/family therapy, psychiatric assessments, medication therapy and case management to children, youth and adults to prevent family dissolution.

Offers unique and technologically advanced treatments for patients whose fears inhibit their quality of life. The clinic has also successfully treated clients with post-traumatic stress disorder, a condition caused by an unusually devastating and/or tragic experience. Some common phobias treated at the clinic include: travel on airplanes, trains; public speaking; animals and heights. The center also treats patients with PTSD. The Saltzman Center is open Monday through Saturday. All therapy services are by appointment only. Fees are set at the time therapy is initiated. An outpatient treatment center offering: assessments, psychiatric evaluations, medication management and ancillary withdrawal (suboxone induction & maintenance) along with outpatient individual and group treatment services for adults, young adults/adolescents and significant others/family members. Specialized programs include but are not limited to: women, co-occurring disorders, DWI's, criminal justice population, domestic violence and young adults/adolescents.

Provides preventive services for teenagers showing early signs of psychological disturbance. Offers comprehensive evaluations and appropriate treatments from a range of programs for teenagers. Offers family support services. Conducts educational programs for school personnel on early warning signs of impending illness.

Provides an 23 bed acute psychiatric unit certified by the New York State Department of Health and the Office for Mental Health. It is affiliated with the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Department of Psychiatry. The unit serves mentally ill patients as well as mentally ill, chemically addicted (MICA) patients. Its interdisciplinary approach includes board certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, recreation therapists, and registered dietitians. It provides 24 hour nursing care by a team of psychiatric nurses and nursing assistants. The center follows a structured approach to allow for individual treatment. Therapies include medication management, individual and group therapy, family counseling and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). Outpatient psychiatry is offered at 300 Atlantic Avenue, Greenport.

Provides diagnostic evaluations and psychological services to adults, adolescents, children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds who are having, behavioral, emotional, learning or adjustment problems. Emphasis is placed on clarifying problem areas, developing realistic goals and providing active short-term treatment. The full psychological evaluation consists of a biographical data review, psychological testing and assessment, an interpretive conference and a written report. Psychotherapeutic programs for behavior change include: Anger management, stress reduction, parent skills training, marriage and family counseling, and counseling for adults and children who have been abused. Consultation with school districts and other professional organizations are also available to develop programs within school and professional settings. Long Island Community Hospital’s psychiatric emergency program, the Center enables you or someone you care about to immediately receive the appropriate level of care. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the Center is also is a valuable resource providing referral information on Behavioral Health services in the community. Please note: Due to the pandemic treatment may be provided in the main medical emergency room area and not the Access Center.
