REBECCA CENTER FOR MUSIC THERAPY | MOLLOY UNIVERSITY

Uses interactive music therapy interventions to facilitate relatedness, communication, and thinking while removing physical and cognitive barriers that prevent people with developmental challenges from engaging in essential social interactions and life processes for people of all ages. We work towards our mission in a multifaceted way: clinical services, training and education, research, and publications. We provide services for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. The Rebecca Center offers various music therapy programs that are tailored to the abilities and needs of each individual. Rockland Conservatory provides Individual Lessons, Audio Engineering, Youth Chorus, and Creative Aging Initiative. Also, Main Street Singers chorus, Songwriting Workshop, Music Therapy: Individual sessions and groups for physically and mentally challenged children, teen & adults in collaboration with Music For Life Creative Arts, Therapeutic choirs: Teens on the Autism Spectrum, All Tuned In, for seniors in partnership with Meals on Wheels. Performances: Concerts by students & faculty for under-served community residents in nursing homes and at non-profit events, Overtures concert Series, providing free professional world-class music performances on our own stage or virtually.

Provides a social day care program for the frail elderly, including transportation within our catchment area, hot meal, blood pressure screening, recreation, arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise therapy, trips, outings, and parties. Serves frail, elderly, at-risk or isolated persons over age of 60 with one or more physical or mental deficits who are continent, able to feed and toilet themselves and work in a group.

MUSIC THERAPY | ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE RESOURCE CENTER, INC.

ADRC’s interactive Music Therapy Program enables people with Alzheimer’s, and their caregivers, to revel in music’s restorative power. A professional musical therapist leads each group through a medley of familiar melodies, and participants are invited to sing, dance and play along with hand-held percussion instruments. ADRC’s Music Therapy Program is ideally suited for individuals with early to moderate stage Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive disorder. Each session runs for one hour at our headquarters.

MUSIC AND PHYSICAL THERAPY GROUPS | NAZARETH UNIVERSITY

* Gives group music and physical therapy sessions to adults with memory problems. Students who are learning to be therapists and certified therapists run these sessions. They happen once a week for 50 minutes in the fall and spring. * Offers group therapy with music and physical activities for adults with Parkinson's. Students training to be therapists and certified therapists run these sessions. They happen once a week for 50 minutes in the fall and spring. * Provides group therapy with music and physical therapy for adults who have trouble moving because of a stroke or brain injury.
