Western Problem Gambling Resource Center

A program of the New York Council on Problem Gambling. Works for positive transformation of lives harmed by problem gambling, including individuals with gambling disorders as well as their families and communities. Services include: - Assessment - Referral to treatment and recovery support services, including support groups and licensed mental health clinicians (via a private practitioner network) - Education, public awareness resources, and training opportunities Focuses efforts on: - Increasing public awareness of problem gambling - Connecting clients with treatment, recovery, and support services - Working with the gaming industry to promote responsible gambling - Promoting healthy lifestyles which foster freedom from problem gambling

Prevention Works - Falconer Office

Provides life skills, social emotional learning, alcohol and substance use education and awareness, prevention education, and intervention programs. Also offer Parenting classes in person and/or virtually. Please see separate listings for parenting programs. Evidence-based prevention programs are available for students in elementary school, middle school, high school, college and seniors. Prevention Educators work with families and children living in chemically dependent households, providing one on one education and intervention to support family members and children. Offers alcohol/substance use and problem gambling training for professional development for individuals, organizations, schools, and businesses. These events may be public presentations, in-service workshops, workplace training, or on-site training to address the interest and needs of the group. Topics available for training events include issues regarding substance use, current trends, life skills, compulsive gambling, and addictions prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. Training lengths are contingent on the program.

Provides wellness, life skills, social emotional learning, alcohol and substance use awareness, prevention education, parenting support programs, and intervention services. Evidence-based prevention programs are available in elementary, middle, and high school. Works for families and children living in chemically dependent households. Provides one-on-one educational sessions and family support resources for youth and adults. Offers other impactor trainings and professional development on: Alcohol and Substance Use, Problem Gambling, Employee Wellness, Wellness Initiative for Senior Education (60+). These events may take the form of public presentations, in-service workshops, workplace training, or on-site training to address the interest and needs of the group. Topics available for training events include issues regarding substance abuse, compulsive gambling, and addictions prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery. These training events can span from 1 hour to 18 hour presentations.

Partners For Prevention

Substance abuse prevention program for Wyoming County. Professional prevention specialists deliver evidence-based prevention programs to Wyoming County school districts and communities. Programs include responsible server training, underage gambling awareness, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs training, substance abuse prevention skills training, teen intervention, and more. Encourages partnerships between traditional and nontraditional groups in the community such as youth, schools, probation, businesses, libraries, media, youth-serving agencies, and faith-based organizations, parents, and other concerned adults. Through such partnerships, this community-based coalition provides prevention strategies that target under-age drinking, cigarette smoking, vaping, marijuana use, prescription drug abuse, and use of heroin and other drugs.
