Provides a warmline which offers peer support, information, and referrals for those with mental health needs, questions or concerns. Also helps with meeting individual goals (education, fitness, employment, etc.). The warmline is manned by recipients of mental health services. Matches volunteers in one-to -one relationships with Nassau County adults and youth recovering from mental illness. Recruits, interviews, screens, trains and supports volunteers who agree to a one year commitment to visit their Compeer friend for a minimum of fours hours a month. Provides program participants with supportive friendship, advocacy, increased social interaction, positive role models and access to educational community activities.
