Provides education to participation to further examine the reasoning beyond their arrest and looks at social, medical, legal, and driver safety problems caused by alcohol and other drugs. Consists of 16 hours of classroom activities, with lectures, films, group discussions, and self evaluation over a 7-week period.

The Victim Impact Panel is a program that serves the entire community by providing a monthly forum on the painful consequences of drunk/drugged driving from people whose lives have been forever changed by an impaired driver. People convicted of DWI and DWAI are mandated by the courts to attend VIP with the aim of reducing recidivism. The program is available in English and Spanish. There is also educational component available for those offenders who are under 21 years of age.

A 7-week educational program for persons convicted of driving while intoxicated or impaired. Course content focuses on defensive driving, alcohol and substance abuse education, and where appropriate, referral for evaluation and treatment. The program seeks to provide early intervention by identifying individuals with problems and by educating participants of the impact of driving under the influence. Participants are enrolled in the program through the New York State DMV.

Offers a Victim Impact Panel run by the Suffolk County Probation Department in conjunction with the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD). The DUI Victim Impact Panel Program is an awareness program for offenders convicted of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. The panels consist of a non-confrontational presentation consisting of crime victims telling their own personal stories of how impaired drivers forever changed their lives. The panel presents a unique perspective to the offender that is often overlooked or simply cannot be taught by the courts and the DUI offender schools. Introduces victim's point of view to convicted DWI offenders. When victim's statements are told in person, from the heart, in neither blaming or accusatory way, it may enable offender, perhaps for first time, to consider the pain and suffering drinking can cause others; seeks to help offender move beyond focusing on their own "bad luck"; may serve as first step in breaking down denial of offender's mind which may replay when drinking and driving is again an option; may change behavior and save lives.
