LOCAL HISTORY ROOM | EAST ISLIP PUBLIC LIBRARY

Houses a local history collection, the Bob Muller Long Island Lighthouse collection, and an Irish History and Culture collection. The Local History Room also houses the collection and materials of the East Islip Historical Society. The Historical Society also provides ongoing displays, exhibits and volunteers are available Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2pm-4pm.

LIVING WORLD LECTURES | STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY

Offers free public lectures on select Fridays during the academic school year. Usually four lectures a semester are scheduled. Lectures are based on the current research of the faculty, staff and students of Stony Brook as well as areas of interest from the public. In-service credit for teachers attending these lectures is also available. Some disability-related accommodations are available. Call the Department before 4pm to inform them of your requirements. In-service credit is available for teachers attending the Open Night Lectures. Due to COVID-19, the Open Night Series will be held virtually this semester. Please register and the zoom link will be shared the day before the talk. For further information and lectures dates and times contact the Department.

Maintains the Mt. Sinai Harbor Marine Sanctuary and Visitors Center where shellfish farming is undertaken.
