Many of our venues are open to the public and showcase the talents of our students and professors to the greater community. The Steinberg Museum of Art is hailed by The New York Times for its impressive collections, Steinberg Museum of Art at Hillwood serves as an integral part of the cultural resources at LIU Post. Each year the museum features exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations and symposia to enrich, inform and educate our students, the Campus and local communities. The Hutchins Gallery, located in the lower level of the Library, is a magnificent exhibit hall that showcases the sculpture and painting of local artists, faculty and students. The Student Art League Gallery Located in Hillwood Commons, displays the artwork of undergraduate and graduate art students. Exhibits range from one-person shows to small group exhibits, and include displays of ceramics, paintings, mixed media, multi-media and photography. Call for more detailed information.

Sponsors programs on art and art history for the scholarly community and for the general public. Houses research collections on the art of Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner and their contemporaries. Located in East Hampton, the center is open to the public: May to October; Tuesdays-Sundays. The center, a National Historic Landmark, is operated as an historic site and research facility, and consists of the artists' house, their studio, and the study center containing the art reference library. Seeks to protect and preserve natural habitat which is home to a variety of plant and wildlife including waterfowl, osprey and white-tailed deer. Preserve also offers 50 miles of hiking, horseback riding (by annual permit), cross country skiing and nature trails, as well as fly fishing (with permit). The 32 mile Long Island Greenbelt Trail passes through the preserve. A museum and gift shop are also part of the preserve. Provides a museum at Republic Airport containing hangars built and designed during WWII, filled with operational warplanes from that historic era and staffed with volunteers in authentic period flight gear. Because of its airport location, it is the only historic aircraft collection in the region that can regularly return to air, demonstrating the power and stunning beauty of aircraft designed for war.

Maintains five building on the site including two houses (1799) and (1841), a school house (1846), milk house (circa 1850), and a farm outbuilding with 19th century farm implements and machine on display. Permanent exhibit includes Indian artifacts recovered in Mattituck and a collection of 19th century quilts.
