Offers a learning by doing philosophy through interactive exhibits and demonstrations both-in-house and through outreach programs. Works in partnership with 25 school districts, BOCES, Boy and Girl Scouts of America and the American Association of University Women. Provides internship opportunities, in-service courses for educators, and camps. Call for further information, fees and schedule.

DIVISION OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION | TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN

Maintains the process and changes in the Town's natural environment, seeks to protect the ecology of delicate areas (i.e. the Pine Barrens, the water supply, shellfish grounds) while balancing residents' needs for development of residential and commercial areas. Maintains the Mt. Sinai Harbor Marine Sanctuary and Visitors Center where shellfish farming is undertaken.

Preserves and presents the history of Long Island's Gold Coast Era as well as the life and interests of William K. Vanderbilt II, including his passion for marine life, natural history and the study of other cultures. Also provides information about astronomy through daily planetarium presentations. Museums for All: $1 per person admission for EBT cardholders and members of their households. Membership Access Program: free family-level memberships for Tompkins, Cortland, Cayuga, Seneca, Schuyler, Chemung and Tioga County families with children who qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch at school. Agency Pass Program: free admission passes for clients of Tompkins County health and human service agencies with application approval.
