Tilles Center for the Performing Arts is a prime venue for productions, performances and events. These performances are “non-shushing” and provide a comfortable environment for individuals on the autism spectrum and those who may have limited movement, sensory and/or complex communication needs. Houses a Playhouse which is an 1105 seat, proscenium-style theater that serves the University, as well as the surrounding community, as the premier cultural venue on the Hofstra Campus. The children taking classes perform dramatic, entertaining and educational productions offered to community based organizations, schools and colleges. Performances can focus on issues which involve HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, smoking, and violence prevention, targeting inner city youth.
