CODE ENFORCEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION | CODE ENFORCEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

Provides a variety of services related to the state's Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the State Energy Conservation Construction Code. In close coordination with community officials, DCEA oversees the enforcement practices of local governments in matters pertaining to building construction, fire prevention and energy conservation. Division staff also provides technical and educational assistance to local jurisdictions, administers variances, and serves as secretariat to the State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council.

STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSION | STATE ATHLETIC COMMISSION

Regulates professional boxing and wrestling contests, matches, and exhibitions within the State of New York pursuant to Title 25 of the Unconsolidated Laws. Comprised of three members appointed by the governor, in addition to a physician, a Medical Advisory Board, and staff, SAC administers licenses, enforces rules and regulations, and ensures that medical and safety standards are being met. It provides training seminars for referees, judges, and inspectors, oversees hundreds of events annually across the state, and is committed to promoting and maintaining the health, safety and integrity of its regulated athletic activities.

HUMAN UNDERSTANDING & GROWTH SERVICES | HUMAN UNDERSTANDING & GROWTH SERVICES

A non-profit community based prevention and positive youth development agency. We facilitate leadership conferences for youth, workshops for parents, educators & community groups. In addition, we are engaged in two community coalitions aimed at reducing underage drinking and substance abuse.

Comprised of volunteers appointed by the Governor, council meets quarterly to identify and discuss current issues.

The Health Planning Council is a program of the Human Services Coalition committed to improving the health and well-being of Tompkins County residents. By convening stakeholders across multiple sectors and providing a neutral forum to exchange ideas, HPC promotes collaboration, alignment of resources, and shared leadership to achieve the common goals. HPC administers the Tompkins Health Network, a rural health network program focused on improving access to health care, coordination of services, and ensuring equitable health outcomes for all people.Health Planning Council has an Advisory Board of Directors and implements its work plan through standing committees and ad hoc work groups. It oversees programs and services that improve access to health care and reduces disparities including the following direct service programs: Health Insurance Navigation, Community Health Advocates.

United Way of Chautauqua County (UWCC) - Dunkirk

Mobilizes the community to improve the lives of individuals and families. Programs are focused in four priority areas: academic success, work readiness, self-sufficiency, and health and independence. Currently, $1.3 million is invested in 46 programs coordinated by 37 community partner agencies. Directly coordinates the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program for Chautauqua County and facilitates the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI) for the City of Jamestown. Also supports the 211 WNY information and referral program.

Advocates for alcoholism and substance abuse services in Western NY. Contracts management of local programs receiving state funds.
