To secure a Temporary Residence permit for an existing establishment, you must submit a completed application, appropriate fee, and supporting documentation. Manages construction to ensure compliance with the town zoning ordinances, Building Code, town housing code and construction standards. Also issues building permits, inspects construction, and issues Certificate of Occupancy.

Regulates activities along the wetlands and shoreline of Town, including structural improvements to property, excavation and filling within 75 feet of wetlands or open water, dredging, construction of docks, ramps, floats, pilings, moorings, bulkheads, or any stabilization structures. Grants permits including coastal erosion permits, wetland permits, trustee land permits, grandfather permits and waivers from the full application process.

The Building Department has the responsibility of enforcing the New York State Building Code and the zoning regulations adopted by the town. All permits for new construction, additions, and alterations are issued by the Building Department, as are sign permits. This department inspects construction in-progress and issues certificates of occupancy upon completion. All transactions are kept on permanent record for future review when necessary.
