Provides a collaborative structure to coordinate the work of community organizations and resources to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters in Broome County, NY.

Provides leadership to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from a wide array of public health emergencies. Information is available to help individuals prepare for varying types of emergencies including weather, natural disaster, and disease outbreaks. Primary responsibilities include:

• Developing and integrating all-hazards public health response plans;
• Educating the public and training the county response partners in: Integrated Shelter Support, Isolation and Quarantine, Mass Fatality, Mass Vaccination and Mass Prophylaxis, Medical Surge, and Strategic National Stockpile Plan;
• Conducting drills and exercises to test plans;
• Recruiting, training, and deploying Erie County's Public Health Emergency Response Team and the Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART).

Ensures that citizens of all ages have access to appropriate health services and education.Cooling Centers

Coordinates emergency preparedness and response activities for Broome County Health Dept. Community presentations on emerging public health threats (e.g. bioterrorism, pandemic, influenza, etc) available. Oversees Medical Reserve Corps Program.
