Provides full deportation defense services for clients most at-risk of deportation. The Clinic defends clients in need of motions to reopen prior removal orders, facing false gang allegations, seeking release on bond, and victims of trafficking seeking relief. The clinic provides legal screenings for relief, responds to ICE raids, represents clients detained in ICE jails, litigates in immigration court (such as master calendar, bond, and individual hearings), administrative advocacy with USCIS and at asylum interviews, and appellate litigation before the Board of Immigration Appeals and in Federal Court. Also provide Impact litigation. We challenge policies and practices that harm the immigrant community on Long Island and in New York. In addition we provide Community advocacy. We advocate for human, civil, and constitutional rights for immigrant communities on Long Island and in New York through collaborations with legal service providers, legal trainings, professional development, legislative and administrative advocacy, and community organizing. Provides advocacy and mediation services for a variety of conflicts, such as early intervention programs, lemon law disputes, agricultural issues, probation issues, housing problems, special education programs, and more.

Legal problems handled involve basic needs such as housing, health care, food and income. Focus is on entitlement programs such as public assistance, Medicaid, food stamps and SSI as well as on housing problems involving evictions, foreclosure and poor housing conditions. Specialized units include Mental Health Law Project, SSI/Disability Advocacy Project, Domestic Violence Project, Pro-Bono Project, HIV Advocacy, disability discrimination, adult home advocacy, veterans. senior citizens, and homecare advocacy.
